I’ve read an awfull lot of books about photoshop, and watched an awfull lot of training series over the years, and most have been awfull, but there’s a few that will always stand out as exelent and must haves.

Photoshop LAB Color: The Canyon Conundrum and Other Adventures in the Most Powerful Colorspace
Yeah, that title is a mouthfull. This is probably the book that took me over the edge. It is HIGHLY technical, but the things you learn in this book is nothing short of amazing. Not recommended for newbies. If you don’t have a good understanding of Photoshop it WILL break your brain.
Deke Mcclelland
Deke is a photoshop god, has won mountains of awards both as a photoshop teacher and just teaching in general. Deke is probably the funniest photoshop teacher. Even though his training videos are useually 15 hours or more he makes it feel like hours are just flying by. It’s hard to say what title is best because they are all great, my personal favorite is his masking series. If you want to learn how to mask like the hardcore power users the channels and masks+advanced channels and mask is THE best series on masking.
And, if you’r a photographer get the book called Light Science and Magic, if you shoot with studio strobes and flash, you NEED this book.
